Picasa

What?
This week our class learned about how to use Picasa and all the tools Picasa has to offer. We were asked to take ten pictures as a group and upload them into Picasa. From there we were asked to make a powerpoint presentation.
So What?
As a student today this means a lot to me. I can use Picasa when I am working with pictures to make up a powerpoint to present to the class. This will help make my pictures more clean and help to make my powerpoint even better. I love using powerpoints when I am teaching because I am a visual learner and I think it catches the students attention more.
Picasa is a great tool that allows you to crop the picture, change the color and get rid of red eye. It is a great tool to me because it is easy to use and sufficient. Picasa allows for you to upload pictures straight from your camera or straight from your computer. It has many great easy tools to use.
Now What?
I will use Picasa a lot as a teacher. Not only for my students but also for my own personal life. I think its a great tool to use while making powerpoints and using pictures you have taken or even received from off the computer. You are able to change the picture to exactly how you like it. It's also a great tool that I use in my personal life for when I am wanting to print pictures or just make up a powerpoint for an event such as a wedding, birthday, etc.
I could have my students use Picasa for a powerpoint they are making up to present to the class or for a photo they are trying to print off for an assignment such as a picture to put on their science board for their science project. I think my students will enjoy this tool and will have a lot of fun seeing what they can do to the pictures with Picasa. I know I will use Picasa a lot in my teaching career and in my own life.
Video Reflection
I really liked this video this week. I thought it was really fun and it got the point across very well about how powerpoints can be a bad thing to use when teaching. Powerpoints can be boring and not a great teaching tool if used in the wrong way. I really enjoyed watching this video this week.
