Internet Safety

There are many reasons as to why we should not use the computer,but then there are many reasons as to why we should. Some reason as to why we should not use the internet in class are: the internet has many false sites that are misleading, the children will get confused with the information they learn on the internet from what they are learning in class, and many bad pop ups are on the internet.
We should use the computer in class because it is a great tool for the students. They will be able to access great information for learning. The teacher just needs to teach the children what websites are reliable.
Teachers need to make sure and evaluate each site they use. Pictures might pull up that are inappropiate on certain websites. Also there are many false websites online that are not from a reliable source.
There are many questions that I will ask myself when evaluating a website. I will check to see if the site is from a reliable source. I will look to see what the purpose of the site is. I will also check to see if the information is current.
I can check to make sure that my students are safe while on the internet by making sure that unnecessary websites are blocked. I will also go through the assignment with the class to make sure the students know for sure what they are doing on the internet and how to look information up. I will explain to the children about how many sites are on the internet that are not reliable. Also, I will teach them how to look up sites that have good information and how to look for the bad sites. I will walk around while my students are on the computers and answer any questions they have.
Video Reflection
I liked this video because it covers the main points of internet safety. This is a movie that would catch a childs interest and that they would pay attention to. The music will get the students attention as well. I think when teaching a class that you should state these rules to your students.
